Abstract
Objective: To study the role of Mannitol on cerebral edema and brain damage after brain injury by local treatment. Methods: An rabbit model with brain injury was conducted to contusion by bone windowplasty with extradural hitting. The treated group was dealt with by local rinsing of 20% Mannitol,The control group was not treated accordingly and then the rabbits were killed in ordered time. The changes of moisture in brain tissues and serum myelin basic protein(MBP) were observed. Results: The percent of water content and MBP in the treated group were lower than those of the control group. Conclusions: Local using of Mannitol has an therapeutical effect on the secondary cerebral edema.ylocaltreatment.Methods:
