Abstract
The performance of an intercooler directly influences the work of diesel. In order to improve its performance, research was done on a new type of intercooler which applies evaporate_cooling technology to the intercooler and lowers air temperature by water evaporation. An evaporative cooling intercooler test_bed was built and experiments were completed. The results show that the evaporate_cooling intercooler lowers the temperature of the intercooler outlet and the resistance is equal or less than the original intercooler. This intercooler simplifies the intake charge system of a turbocharged diesel engine, which enhances the working reliability and also reduces the maintenance work intensity.
