Abstract

In order to determine the time sequence of recent eruption in Tianchi volcano, the TL thermal-stability has been investigated for pumice and sanidine phenocryst within the volcanics. The results show that the TL signals of pumice and sanidine phenocryst have better thermal-stability, so they can be used for TL dating. Based on the research, the times of four eruptive events have been dated by TL method in the past 5000a, that is:300-350a B.P.±?1000a B.P.±?3500-4000a B.P.± and 5000a B.P.±. These results are consistent with the historical records of the volcanic eruption and other dating methods within the error range.
