Abstract

Antioxidative activity of three naringin-metal complexes was characterized by applying methods of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical and thiobaribituric acid (TBA).Results showed that three naringin(metal complexes had scavenging effect on DPPH free radical in the order of naringin-iron (Ⅲ) complexnaringin-zinc (Ⅱ) complexnaringin-copper (Ⅱ) complex. In three naringin-metal complexes, complexes naringin-iron and naringin-zinc were proved to have inhibitive activity on peroxidation of linoleic acid while naringin-copper enhanced this peroxidation.Naringin-iron complex showed higher antioxidative activity even than ascorbic acid.Complexes of naringin-iron and naringin-zinc have much higher antioxidative activity than naringin, and different naringin-metal complexes exhibit varied antioxidative activity.
