Abstract

The ablative performance of C/C composites with different carbon matrix was investigated by stagnation point ablation test. The results showed that the mixed carbon matrix(pyrolytic carbon and resin-based carbon)C/C composites, which had the highest graphitization degree, had the best anti-ablative performances. Its linear ablative rate was only 44% of the rate of the pitch-based carbon matrix C/C samples, the linear ablative rate of pyrolytic carbon matrix C/C was less by 14%,though its density was 5% lower. The sealing process taken on the pitch-based carbon matrix C/C samples made the linear ablative rate of the samples lower by 18%.The microstructures of various kinds of carbon matrix C/C were also attentively observed and discussed.
