Abstract
In practical projects, different dredging processes cause different initial moisture contents and the moisture content of the newly dredged sludge shows large changes over a short time. In order to study the impact of the initial moisture content on the effects of the vacuum drainage of the dredged sludge in Baima Lake,an indoor simulation experiment was carried out on the vacuum drainage of the sludge with different initial moisture contents. The results show the following:( a) With a higher initial moisture content of the sludge, there is more surface water produced by the vacuum drainage, the moisture content decreases more over the same period of time, and sludge drainage is more effective. The sludge drainage process can be divided into three stages: the fast drainage stage, the stable drainage stage, and the slow drainage stage.( b) With a higher initial moisture content of the sludge, the sludge needs less time to reach the slow drainage stage, the vacuum drainage of the sludge occurs over a shorter period, the moisture content of the sludge decreases more, and the moisture content of the sludge decreases at a slower rate.
