Abstract

[Purpose] To investigate the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in China in 2009.[Methods] On basis of the criteria of data quality from The National Central Cancer Registry (NCCR),data from 104 registries were evaluated. There were 72 registries’ data qualified and accepted for cancer registry annual report in 2009. Incidence, mortality, cumulative incidence (0~74 years old),truncated rate and proportion were analyzed. Chinese population census in 1982 and Segi’s population were used for age-standardized incidence/mortality rates. [Results] Of 72 cancer registries, the new cases and deaths cases of cervical cancer were 5473 and 1387 respectively. The crude incidence in Chinese cancer registration areas was 12.96/105,age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASR China) and by world standard population(ASR world) were 7.42/105 and 8.97/105 with the cumulative incidence rate (0~74 age years old) of 0.89%. The cancer incidence and ASR China were 13.35/105 and 7.58/105 in urban areas, whereas 12.14/105 and 7.18/105 in rural areas respectively. The cervical cancer mortality in Chinese cancer registration areas was 3.28/105,age-standardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population and by world standard population were 1.64/105 and 2.13/105. The cervical cancer mortality was 3.21/105 in urban areas, and 3.42/105 in rural areas. The age-specific incidence and mortality dramatically increased with age increase.[Conclusion] Cervical cancer has been severely threatening the women health. Prevention and control should be emphasized.
