Abstract

Objective To report two cases of giant granular cell tumor in tongue with review of relative literature to investigate its clinical characteristics. Methods Two cases of grnular cell tumor in tongue were analyzed retrospectively and the relative literature were reviewed to investigate clinical and histopathological features, the diagnosis and treatment. Results Both cases of granular cell tumor in tongue were in young female. The course of disease was gradual without pain.It was about 5cm in diameter. The histological features of the tumor were that there was no complete capsule around tumor and tumour cells were round and relatively bigger,in which a lot of eosinophilic granules(PAS positive staining) could be seen.Numorous granular cells lived in nest form or acini form. There was no recurrence after operation. Conclusion Granular cell tumor in tongue is a benign tumor and it is not likely to recur after it is resected.
