Using Linux in campus network's gateway

Abstract

This paper researches how to build a gateway using Linux based on Linux 2.4 kernel.Linux has high security and stability opposite to other operating systems.The network administrator can use Linux to accomplish a lot of functions the same as routers based on hardware.You can develop on Linux because its source code is free. Because Linux has a very low price, many campus network use Linux to build the gateway.
