Abstract
This paper tentatively applies the relevance theoretical approach to the humorous utterances.To begin with,the paper gives a brief reviewing of the basic view points of the Relevance Theory,which underlies the principles of laughter-making of humorous utterances.It has been pointed out that the translators should be required to process the translation in the context of the original,making every effort to match the readers' expectations with humorous information in the original.
