Abstract
Because of its short generation time and high fertility, the housefly( Musca domestica L.) is an important insect resource. Housefly larvae are rich in nutrition and many kinds of bioactive substances. This paper reviews various aspects of the utilization of housefly in China and describes the actual and potential value of the housefly to food production, health care, environmental protection, industry and agriculture. In addition,we anticipate prospects for industrializing the production of houseflies and housefly products.
