Abstract

Objective:To analyze the characteristics of chlamydia trachomatis infection and status of mixed infection in outpatients from the department of dermatology in Xijing hospital in the recent four years. Methods:A retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 104 cases of chlamydia trachomatis infection in the genitourinary tract, which were diagnosed from November 2007 to June 2011. Results:104 cases of urogenital chlamydia trachomatis infection consisted of 71 male patients(68.72%) and 33 female patients(31.73%).Among them,39 cases(37.50%) showed chlamydia infection alone,35 cases of which were male(89.74%),accounting for 49.30% of all male patients(35/71),and 4 cases were female(10.26%),accounting for 12.12% of all female patients(4/33).And the other 65 cases showed mixed infection(52.50%),among which 36 cases were male(55.38%),accounting for 50.70% of all male patients(36/71),and 29 cases were female(44.62%),accounting for 87.88% of all female patients(27/33).Rate of infection with more than one pathogen was higher in females than that in males, and it was higher than infection with chlamydial alone for both males and females. Conclusion:Infection rate of chlamydia trachomatis alone in genitourinary tract is not as high as that of co-infected with other STI organisms, therefore a comprehensive examination should be performed on STI patients and their sexual partners.
