Abstract

Objective:To study the impact of glucose metabolism disorders on coronary pathological severity by the glucose tolerance test in patients with coronary heart disease. Methods: Coronary angiography was carried out in 142 cases of random selected patients undiagnosed diabetic,70 cases of patients with coronary heart disease as observation group subdivided into 2 groups according to degree of coronary pathological severity and 72 cases of patients without coronary heart disease as control group were investigated with glucose tolerance test and glycosylated hemoglobin determination. Results: 2 h postprandial blood glucose level of observation group was higher than the control group(P0.05).There is a low positive correlation(r =0.337,P0.01)between the degree of coronary pathological severity and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose levels in patients with coronary heart disease. Conclusion: The fact shows that significant impaired glucose tolerance in patients with coronary artery disease is present. It is important to use glucose tolerance test for observation of glucose metabolism disorders in patients with coronary artery disease.
