Abstract
Objective To understand the prevalence and severity of hypertensive retinopathy, and to analyze the relation of it with other target organ damage(TOD) and the clinical events. Methods 1 540 hypertensive patients screened out from communities in Tianjin were surveyed. All of them received ophthalmoscopy and other related examination. Results The detectable rate of hypersentive retinopathy was 92.6%,in which severe retinopathy(grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ) was 0.97%,and hypertensive retinopathy had no significant correlation with TOD and its clinical events. Conclusion There is high detectable rate of mild retinopathy and low detectable rate of severe retinopathy in community hypertension patients. There is no significant correlation between hypertensive retinopathy and target organ damage, and routine ophthalmoscopy examination is not recommended for hypertensive patients.
