Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is defined as a syndrome of ovarian hyperandrogenism and chronic anovulation. Treatment of adolescent PCOS in adolesence includes regulation of menses, control of hirsutism and acne, and reduction of weight. Conventional treatment of PCOS has been focused on suppression of symptoms of androgen excess and anovulation. New therapies with insulin-sensitizing agents are intended to correct underlying metabolic disorder. More clinical trials are needed to determine therapeutic effects of insulin-sensitizing agents and suitable patient population for their use.
