Abstract

Objective To determine the predictive value of fetal fibronectin(fFN) for preterm birth in pregnant women with preterm labor. Methods Fetal fibronectin in cervicovaginal secretions were measured in 126 pregnant women with preterm labor.Pregnant outcomes were recorded. Results Among 126 subjects, positive rate of fFN was 69.5%(78 cases).Fifty seven cases were preterm labor. The prevalence of spontaneous preterm delivery among those women with fFN(+) within 7 days,14 days, and 37 weeks were 25.6%,39.7% and 69.2%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those women with fFN(-)(0%,0% and 12.8%).The negative predictive value were 100%、 100% and 87.2%.Conclusion Vaginal fetal fibronectin determination is valuable in predicting preterm birth in pregnant women with preterm labor, especially significant for negative predictive value.
