Abstract
The Longdongbao Section of Yuliang River was selected to monitor the dynamic characteristics of total nitrogen and total phosphorus in river water.According to the distribution of different functional zones along the river bank, five monitoring sections were designed.During dry period, water samples were collected synchronously from these five monitoring sections with sampling interval of 5 days. The water samples were analysed for total nitrogen and total phosphorus. The results showed that the concentrations of total nitrogen(CTN) and total phosphorus(CTP) in river water were increased by human activities. Therefore, phosphorus input to river from human activities, especially the nonpoint source pollution from agriculture, must be strictly controlled.
