Abstract
This paper introduces the flow-through and the V-shaped ballast-free hull form developed abroad,and provides the main dimensions,lines and design specifications of a 6500t ballast-free tanker as the example.The advantages of this new ship type are demonstrated through analysis and comparison with conventional tankers;some guidance are provided to promote the development of new designs of ballast-free ships.
