Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the impact of respiratory training in patients with cervical spinal cord injury on the lung infection.METHODS Totally 30 cases of cervical spinal cord injury patients were divided into respiratory training group(treatment group) and control group with 15 cases in each. All patients were given convenient physical rehabilitation training, drug therapy, the treatment group were trained to increase the breathing exercises 2 times/day with continuous training for one month.Pulmonary infection and lung function before and after training was compared.RESULTS The infection rate of the treatment group was 6.67% while the control group was 40.02%,the infection rate of the treatment group was obviously lower than the control group. The indicators of respiratory function in both of the two groups were improved at different degrees. The patient′s lung function in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION The respiratory function of the cervical spinal cord injury patients can be effectively improved through breathing exercise to reduce the lung infection and improve the quality of life.
