Abstract
Strength and stiffness are important index to evaluate the safe capability of gate.The service gate in the spillway of Hongfeng Hydroelectric Station is simulated and calculated with 3D finite element method software ALGOR according to its characteristics.Based on the strength identification standard of the existing service gate and the stiffness demand of the principal beam of the gate,defined in the Design Specification for Steel Gate of Hydraulic and Hydropower Project,the method is expounded about how to check the strength and stiffness of the gate with the result of the calculation.
