Abstract

Objective To investigate traditional Chinese medical syndrome distribution in coronary heart disease(CHD) literatures from South of the Five Ridges. Methods Frequency analysis was used for clinical report, clinical research and theoretical exposition about traditional Chinese medicine,Chinese herbal medicine, and integrated Chinese and western medicine from South of the Five Ridges issued in the year from 1990 to 2010.Based on the results of the frequency analysis, the distribution of traditional Chinese medical syndrome patterns was investigated.Results(1) CHD patients with the following syndrome patterns had top 8 case frequency, they were in the descending order, and the syndromes were Qi deficiency and blood stasis, heart blood stagnation, phlegm blockage in the heart vessels due to Qi deficiency and blood stasis, phlegm blockage in the heart vessels due to deficiency of both Qi and yin,Qi stagnation and blood stasis, phlegm blockage in the heart vessels and heart blood stasis, deficiency of both Qi and yin.CHD patients with the following syndrome patterns were in descending syndrome frequency sequence, and the syndromes were Qi deficiency and blood stasis, heart blood stasis, phlegm blockage in the heart vessels, deficiency of both Qi and yin, insufficiency of yang Qi,Qi stagnation and blood stasis, phlegm blockage in the heart vessels due to Qi deficiency and blood stasis, heart blood stasis due to deficiency of both Qi and yin.(2) CHD patients with the following syndrome elements were in descending case frequency sequence, and the syndromes were blood stasis,Qi deficiency, phlegm turbidity, yin deficiency, yang deficiency,Qi stagnation, cold stagnation, heat toxicity.CHD syndrome elements in descending frequency sequence were as same as those in CHD patients with descending case frequency sequence. Conclusion The predominant syndromes in CHD literatures from South of the Five Ridges are blood stasis,Qi deficiency, phlegm turbidity, and yin deficiency.
