Effect of Valsartan and Captopril on insulin resistance in hypertensive patient

Aim: To investigate the effect of Valsartan and Captopril on insulin resistance(ISR) in hypertensive patient.Methods: A total of 54 hypertensive patients with high FINS was allocated into two groups.Group V(n=28) and Group C(n=26)had been treated by Valsartan and Captopril for 3 months, respectively.The blood pressure,FGLU,FINS and 2 h GLU, and 2 h INS were detected before and after treatment.ISI was calculated. A total of 20 healthy people were the control.Results: Before treatment,there was no significant differences in FGLU amoung the 3 groups.But FINS,2 h GLU, and 2 h INS of Group V and C were higher,ISI was lower than those of the control.The level of the indexes significantly improved after treatment(P0.05),but still differed from those of the control(P0.05). Blood pressure of patients in Group V and C decreased compared with that before treatment(P0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups(P0.05). Conclusion: Valsartan and Captopril could improve the ISR in hypertensive patients,but couldn't make it to be normal in short time.
