Abstract
Objective To study effects of percutaneous ethanol injection (PEI) in the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).2 Methods We detected blood samples from 9 HCC patients by nested RTPCR to find out AFP mRNA after PEI treatment for 35 sessions within 2 weeks. ResultsBZ AFP mRNA was positive in 4 out of 9 HCC patients.Among the 4 patients AFP mRNA turned negative in 3 at the end of PEI therapy. HZConclutions PEI seems to be effective in preventing the hematogenous dissemination of the tumor cells.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
