Abstract
Objective To study the expression and significance of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) in gastric ischemia/reperfusion(GI/R) injury of rats.?Methods The GI/R model was established by clamping the celiac artery for 30 min and allowing reperfusion.Rats were divided into a sham operation group and an ischemia/reperfusion injury group, with the latter including subgroups terminated 0.5,1,3,24 hours after reperfusion respectively. The animals were finally sacrificed to investigate the gastric mucosal damage index and the mucosal cell NF-κB activity by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.?Results It was shown that NF-κB was expressed at a very low level in the sham group, but was upregulated after gastric ischemia/reperfusion,approaching its peak after 1 hour of reperfusion and then coming down. The results were in good agreement with the changes of the gastric mucosal damage index.?Conclusion NF-κB may play an important role in gastric ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats.
