Sociology Study of Sport from Perspective of Structural Functionalism

This paper gave a brief introduction to structure functionalism and its theories about sport.It analyzed functions of sport from perspective of structural functionalism.As a social institution sport could meet the need of society.And then view the evolution of sport using this theory.There are many differences between functionalism and conflict theory on many issues in sociology study of sport.Draw the conclusion that structural-functionalism contributes to the harmonious of society by emphasizing positive function of sport,but there are also some drawbacks.The negative of this theory is that sport becomes a super stable structure and this theory may become obstacles to the reform of sport administration system.
