Abstract
The technology for biodiesel production from raw rapeseed oil and methanol was studied. The transesterification of fatty acid in the raw rapeseed oil and methanol was catalyzed by KOH.The results show that the optimum reaction conditions for biodiesel production were as following: the molar ratio of methanol to oil of 6:1,catalyst KOH equal to 1.0% of raw rapeseed oil, reaction temperature at 60℃ and running for 60 min.The conversion of raw rapeseed oil to biodiesel reached 94.3%,the purity of biodiesel was up to 98.5%.
