Tradition and development A survey of the marriage custom of the Miao people in Wenshan

The marriage custom of the Miao people in Wenshan, Yunnan Province monogamy, equality of men and women, free marriage and no intermarriage of the same clan plays an important role in the maintenance of their traditional marriage and family. Such custom, which, however, has partly been absorbed by the modern marriage law, is contradictory to the modern marriage law in some aspects. Therefore, we must correctly handle the relationship between the traditional marriage custom and the modern marriage law, so as to adapt the former to the development of the modern society.
