On College Pronunciation Teaching

English pronunciation learning is one of the important aspects of English learning in the whole language learning process.To a great extent it determines a language learner's learning progress and efficiency.At present in China,the English pronunciation of many college students is still very poor,even to those English majors there are also many pronunciation problems.Therefore,in the stage of college English learning,the teaching of pronunciation is still of great importance.This article addresses mainly two issues concerning pronunciation teaching:choosing pronunciation mode and settling down pronunciation goal.It advocates a scientific and systematic pronunciation teaching mode and encourage persistent pronunciation teaching in English teaching process,combining class instruction and after-class reinforcement practice,combining pronunciation knowledge instruction and standard pronunciation imitation.It also discusses the basic requirements for teacher in teaching pronunciation.
