Abstract

Objective To observe the growth curve of blood culture for deducing the bacterial classification. Methods 252positive samples of blood culture were an-alyzed according to the lag phase, loganithmic growth phase and stationary phase of bacterial growth curve. Results Enterobacteriaceae, with short lag phose, growing rapid-ly in growth phase, and its stationary phase was even hardly observed. The growth curve of staphylococcus sloped to a certain extent (K≈1).Fungus growth curve was smooth and its growth phase presented after a long time.Streptococcus was very similar to staphylococcus with growth curve being straight. The length of vertical axes during nonfermenters growth phase(△CO 2 )was short.Sometimes, there were two growth phases.Wave crest and trough in anaerobes growth curve were observed and its curve simulated sine wave. Conclusion It is suggested that the bacterial classification can be deduced by observing growth curve.
