Abstract
Esterification of rosin with ethanol under microwave irradiation was studied. The influence factors such as catalyst, the molar ratio of ethanol to rosin, catalyst dosage, reaction time and microwave power, are discussed. The result indicated that the optimum condition were as follow: microwave power 560W,reaction time 35min,p-toluenesulfonic acid of catalyst dosage 6.7%(on the basis of ethanol and rosin mass),the molar ratio of ethanol to rosin 1∶20.The esterification rate amounted to 92.5 % under the optimum conditions.Additionally, the refined ethyl rosinate was characterized by IR,and the product is qualified.
