Abstract
Objective To evaluate the computed tomographic(CT) sensitivity of small bowel rupture after blunt abdominal trauma. Methods Preoperative CT scans were obtained from 37 patients with surgically proven small bowel rupture secondary to blunt abdominal trauma. Results 63.2% patients had findings that were unequivocal for bowel rupture 57.9% patients had findings that were suggestive of severe small bowel injury. Conclusion CT is a sensitive method for suggesting severe small bowel rupture secondary to blunt abdominal trauma.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
