city is an international buzzword of future urban development, which will have great effect on urban planning as an important public policy of controlling land and space resources, which should converge with Smart City. With the analysis of the connotation of smart city and its significant effect on urban planning, this paper mainly explores the innovation of urban planning under the background of smart city, from the perspectives of theory and practice, so as to break through the limitations of traditional urban planning practice and achieve smarter urban planning.
