Abstract

Objective To study the protective effects of sodium hydrobutyrate on liver ischemic reperfusion injury and its mechanism in rats. Methods 36 healthy male Wistar rats were randomized into three groups: Control group(C group),ischemic reperfusion group(IR group) and ischemic hydrobutyrate preconditioning group(P group),each consisting of 12 animals.IR group and P group were made liver ischemic reperfusion injury model, and P group were pretreated with sodium hydrobutyrate 60 mg/kg,The plasma ALT,AST,SOD and MDA levels were measured, and HMGB-1in the liver tissue were also observed using western blot methods. Results The plasma ALT,AST and MDA levels in IR group were significantly higher than those in C group and P group(P0.01),and SOD levels in IR group was higher than that in C group and P group(P0.05).HMGB-1 had no expression in C group, but its mRNA was higher in IR group than in P group(P0.01).Conclusion With the sodium hydrobutyrate pretreatment, the liver tissue was protected efficiently against ischemic reperfusion injury.
