Abstract
Objective:To determine the effect of calcium hydroxide dexamethesone in root canal therapy as an intracanal medication. Methods: Two hundred patients with chronic pulpitis or chronic apical disease randomly allocated to the formocresol group (control) and the calcium hydroxide dexamethesone groups with 100 in each group. The clinical effect after 7 days was observed. Results: There were significant differences of effective rate between two groups:90% for calcium hydroxide dexamethesone group and 67% for formocresol group. Conclusion: Calcium hydroxide dexamethesone paste is superior to formocresol as an intracanal medication in root canal therapy.
