Abstract

Objective To observe the effects of different fat emulsions with various phospholipid/triglyceride (PL/TG) ratio on plasma lipid concentrations in the rats. Methods The rats were randomly assigned into three groups and infused for 24 hours with fat emulsions with PL/TG ratios of 0.12 and 0.06 or were not treated respectively.Plasma triglyceride, phospholipid and cholesterol concentration were measured after the test. Results The plasma triglyceride concentration increased but there was no significant difference among the groups, whereas plasma phospholipid and cholesterol concentration significantly increased by high PL/TG ratio (0.12) fat emulsion infusion. Conclusions These results indicated that the administration of fat emulsion with lower PL/TG ratio should be considered to avoid the hyperlipidemia.
