Clinical effect of acupuncture- medicine therapy combined with rehabilitation training in treatment of dysphagia after stroke: a report of 21 cases

Abstract

Objective: To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture- medicine therapy combined with rehabilitation training in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke. Methods: Forty patients with dysphagia after stroke were divided into treatment group( n =21) and control group( n =19). The treatment group received acupuncture- medicine therapy combined with rehabilitation training,while the control group received rehabilitation training alone. The treatment outcomes of the two groups were evaluated after 4 weeks of treatment. Results: The treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate than the control group( 80. 95% vs 57. 89%,P 0. 05). Conclusion: Acupuncture- medicine therapy combined with rehabilitation training has a good clinical effect in the treatment of dysphagia after stroke.
