Abstract
A bacterial strain was isolated from the oil-contaminated soil by selective enrichment on n-hexadecane as the sole carbon source.Based on the morphological observation and automatic identification, the strain was preliminarily identified to be genus Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The ability for the isolated strain to biodegrade n-hexadecane was evaluated by determining n-hexadecane concentration of the inoculated culture medium on a gas chromatography. Results showed that the isolated strain was markedly effective in biodegrading n-hexadecane.Furthermore,the ability for the isolated strain to biodegrade n-hexadecane was the best at the pH value of 7.0.
