Abstract

Objective To investigate the correlation between one single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)in ATM gene and the incidence of esophageal cancer. Methods A total specimens of 135 patients with esophageal cancer were recruited from our hospital from September 2009 to December 2010,135 healthy people as control at the same time.Logistic regression model was employed to analyze the relationship between the SNP and the incidence of esophageal cancer after ATM genotype by Taqman SNP genotyping assays. Results The risk of esophageal cancer was obviously higher in patients with smoking habit(χ2=10.252,P=0.001,P0.05)and those who had relatives with tumor(χ2=12.199,P=0.000,P0.05).In the esophageal cancer patients group,A/A genotype accouted for 31.9%,A/G genotype accouted for 38.5% and G/G genotype accouted for 29.6%,while the rates in control one were 25.9%,48.9%,25.2% respectively.Compared with AA genotype, the OR for A/G genotype was 0.798(95%CI:0.418-1.521,P=0.493)and for G/G genotype was 0.534(95%CI:0.265-1.079,P=0.080).Conclusion The SNP of ATM gene(rs664143) is probably the protective factor for esophageal cancer of Huai′an.
