On the Individual Features of Ban Gu's Literary Works

As a hack writer,Ban Gu's course of literary works can be divided into two periods.During the earlier period,being in the Ming and Zhang emperors' favour for his writings and learning,he was devoted to Han Dynasty.During the later period,being encumbered with his fame as a writer,he was used by the kinsmen of the royal family,and his devotion to Han Dynasty was affected.Nevertheless,he sought the true all along in his work.His representative works were “Han Dynasty's History”,“Two Capitals”and “The Extended Model of Emperor Yao and Shun”,——the typical works relating kindness of Han Dynasty during the earlier period.During the second period he wrote“The Inscription for the Yan Ran Mountain”.The change of political situation had the deepest effect on Ban Gu's literary works.
