Abstract
AIM: To compare the effects and safety of pravastatin and Duo_xi_kang in treating hyperlipidemia. METHODS: Hyperlipidemia 60 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Pravastatin group of 30 patients (M 16, F 14; age 58±s 11 a) received pravastatin 10_20 mg, po, qn for 6 mo. Duo_xi_kang group of 30 patients (M 18, F 12; age 60±10 a) received Duo_xi_kang 1.35 g(0.45 g/pill)po, tid for 6 mo. RESULTS: The total effective rates for reducing total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), and low_density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL_ch) in pravastatin group were 90%, 53%, and 93%(P0.01), respectively. Duo_xi_kang did not produce marked change. There were no severe adverse reactions. CONCLUSION: Pravastatin is safe and effective on hyperlipidemia.
