Abstract
Objective To discuss expression and clinical significance of anti-oncogene PTEN on cancer of colon. Methods The expression of PTEN was tested with the application of immunohistochemical S-P method on 70 cases of cancer of colon, whose correlation between biological behaviors were discussed, such as tissue differentiation, lym-phatic metastasis, dukes staging and etc. Additionally, 30 cases of normal colorectal tissues near the cancer of colon were selected as control group. Results About 32 cases of PTEN positive expression were appeared among 70 samples of cancer of colon, and the 30 cases of normal colorectal tissues near the cancer of colon were showed the PTEN posi-tive expression. The rate of PTEN positive expression in the tissues of cancer of colon was much lower than that in the normal colorectal tissues near the cancer of colon(χ2=26.27,P0.01). PTEN expression in the tissues of cancer of colon had close relationship with biological behaviors, which has positive correlation with tissue differentiation( r=0.30,P0.05),and negative correlation with lymphatic metastasis and Dukes staging( r=-0.27,P0.05, r=-0.26,P0.05). Conclusion The abnormal changes of PTEN genes take part in the germination and development of cancer of colon, whose expres-sion level has obvious correlation with biological behaviors of cancer of colon, and the deterioration of evolution, infil-tration and metastasis of cancer of colon, which may be the new target spot to make the gene diagnosis and treatment of cancer of colon.
