Abstract
Objective To study the effect of curcumin on the expression of VEGF in human colon cancer Lovo cells in vitro.Methods The human colon cancer cell lines Lovo were treated with 0 μmol/L,5 μmol/L10 μmol/L,20 μmol/L, 40 μmol/L curcumin for 24 hours respectively, then we detected the human colon cancer cell lines VEGF m RNA expression by Real-time PCR and VEGF protein expression by Western Blot. Results After the human colon cancer cell lines Lovo cells treated with curcumin for 24 hours respectively, the expression of VEGF m RNA and protein of the curcumin-treated groups(5 μmol/L,10 μmol/L,20 μmol/L,40 μmol/L) had more significant reduction compared with control group(P0.05). Conclusion Curcumin could decrease the expression of VEGF in human colon cancer Lovo cells dose-dependently, this may provide some evidence for the mechanism that curcumin could inhibit the proliferation and invasion of colon cancer Lovo cells.
