Abstract
Objective To observe the value of serum cholinesterase activity in evaluating liver reserve function of cirrhotic patients perioperatively. Methods To retrospectively analyse 76 cirrhotic patients of surgical treatment in Yixing People′s Hospital from 2005 to 2009.The randomized 70 cases of normal physical examination were as the control group. The objects of study were divided into groups according to different means to compare the values of serum cholinesterase of each group for judging the significance of serum cholinesterase in the evaluation of liver reserve function. Results With serum albumin decreasing, serum cholinesterase decreased too. With liver function descending, the serum cholinesterase decreased too.Serum cholinesterase showed statistical significance(P0.05),between the patients with complications of ascites, jaundice or hepatic encephalopathy and the patients without any complications. Conclusion Serum cholinesterase negatively correlates with the severity of cirrhotic liver. It can be one of the methods to evaluate the reserve function of cirrhotic liver.Using serum cholinesterase to evaluate hepatic reserve function can remedy the weaknasses of Child grade.
