Abstract

Objective: To investigate the situation of iodized salt consumptionof residents in Guangling District,Yangzhou, thus to determine appropriate content of iodine in this region. Methods: Conduct random checks on iodized salt consumption of residents according to the National Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Monitoring Program, judged by GB5461-2000.Results: From 2008 to 2010,the region has come to 100% coverage of iodized salt, average iodine content is 29.2 mg/kg according to 5-year monitoring of iodized salt. Conclusion: The functional departments should continue to strengthen the monitoring of iodine nutrition. And the early implementation of the upper limit of the iodine content been reduced to 30 mg/kg in Salt Iodine Content(draft) should be realized. In particular,According to the local conditions,Scientific iodine supplementation principle should be vigorously Promoted.
