Abstract
The welding between rail and frog belongs to the welding of different materials between the high manganese steel and the high carbon steel. It is difficult to weld the two materials because of their poor weldability ,the different welding process, and the irregular sectional shape of rail . The shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) with the filler metal was used to reduce the welding difficuty and simplify the welding process. Rail which is 600mm long and frog were welded, and its result showed that the property of the joint reached and exceeded the requirement of the correlative standard, so it is an feasible way by with the filler metal to weld the high manganese steel and the high carbon steel.
