Effects of 5-aminolevulinic Acid on Chilling Tolerance of Eggplant Seedlings

Abstract

In order to provide theoretical basis and practical reference for winter-spring cultivation of eggplant, we studied the effects of exogenous ALA on chilling tolerance of eggplant seedlings in the low temperature of 5℃ for four days, by taking the seedlings of Chunqiuchangqie and Yuzaoqie No.1 as materials. The results showed that, exogenous ALA could effectively decrease relative conductivity and MDA content, slow chlorophyll decomposition, improve proline content, at the same time increase activities of SOD, POD, CAT in leaves of eggplant seedlings under low temperature stress, and1 mg/L ALA treatment had the best effect. It could be seen that exogenous ALA could relieve chilling injury of eggplant by increasing the activities of antioxidant enzymes and the contents of osmotica.
