Abstract

Because the mechanical properties of electrorheological (ER) and magnetorheological (MR) fluids can be changed quickly and reversibly, they can be applied in engineering widely. It is important that the measurements of rheological properties in electrorheological or magnetorheological technologies. The main rheological parameters of ER or MR fluids are introduced briefly. The principles of each method are illustrated. The advantages and disadvantages of each method are presented. Some problems are discussed in the measurements of rheological properties of ER or MR fluids.
