Abstract
Objective: To explore a rapid, noninvasive method of prenatal diagnosis for fetal gender. Methods: Ninety plasma samples were obtained from conception women during 5~40 weeks period of pregnancy and PCR technique was used to determine DNA-SRY gene. Results: Of the 90 cases of pregnancy, there were 32 cases with testis-determining gene(SRY) and a 'male' fetus was diagnosed.diagnostic conformity rates were 11/30 at first trimester,9/30 at second trimester,12/30 at third trimester respectively. All cases were verified by the DNA of chorion, amnionic fluid and umbilical cord blood. The final accuracy was 100%.Conclusion: PCR is a reliable and accurate technique for fetal gender determination in pregnancy through analysis of fetal DNA in maternal plasma. The PCR amplification of SRY sequence is convenient for the non-invasive early prenatal diagnosis of sex-linked inherited diseases. It has important significance in preventing inherited diseases.
