Abstract

Phytoremediation is an environmentally friendly in situ technique for cleaning up metal contaminated land.Efficient metal uptake by remediation plants is often limited by low phytoavailability of targeted metals.A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of ethylenedi-aminetetraacetic acid(EDTA) on Cd and Pb accumulation by four kinds of flowers. Results showed that application of EDTA to the soil significantly increased the concentration of Cd in the leaves of Pctunia hybrida,Tagetes erecta L and Solenlstemon scutellarioides and those of Pb in the leaves of all flowers. The enrichment coefficient and translocation factor both reached 1 of Tagetes erecta L with Cd and Tagetes patula with Pb,which indicated that Tagetes erecta L and Tagetes patula could be used for the remediation of contaminated soil.
