Abstract

This study measures China's 31 provinces comprehensive technical efficiency and total factor productivity of grain production based on DEA- Malmquist method, and uses the panel structure working file analyses the influencing factors of grain production technical efficiency. The results show that China's comprehensive grain production technical efficiency is low, the technology use level is not high, being in the stage of scale diminishing returns, the pure technical efficiency still has larger ascension space; Total factor productivity is on the decline, most provinces total factor productivity index is low, showing the eastern region the phenomenon of total factor productivity is higher than the central and western regions, so we should strengthen the food production technical support; implementation of urbanization can promote the midwest grain production technical efficiency, but it has a negative impact on the western region.
